Confidence is Key - The secret to a truly great shot is believing in yourself. We are all uniquely different from one another and have something special to offer so when you step in front of the camera or cameras (!) remember this is your time to shine. |

Sleeping Beauty - I know it sounds boring, but get a good night's sleep and drink plenty of water the night before you have your photos taken. Being rested will also help you feel calmer and more in control. The water will help to bring a natural glow to your cheeks and pop the whites of your eyes. |
Put Your Best Foot Forward - The classic red carpet pose of putting one foot in front of the other and slightly pointing your toes actually works. It will lengthen your silhouette and accentuate your curves in all the right ways. Put your hand on the opposite hip to finish off the look and gently let your other arm hang by your side clutching your purse. A fabulous pair of shoes will help complete the look. Now you know what to do with all your extremities! |
Pearly Whites - Where better to smile than at your Prom and there are so many types of looks for you to pull from..... sassy, sultry, confident, sweet, demure, charming or plain old happy all work well in front of the camera, especially when accompanied by a smile. |
Take Charge - If there is more than one person taking your photo, try to face each camera one at a time so everybody has the chance to get a good shot. Not only are you likely to give them a better angle, but the photographer will be grateful - which is always helpful! |
Less Is More - That goes for makeup and jewelry. Your accessories should be tailored to your gown choice so they enhance rather than detract. Bold jewelry can add drama to a simple dress, but for highly embellished gowns, a chain necklace or pair of diamond or crystal studs is always flattering. For makeup, I personally like light and natural makeup that enhances your features. Just remember: The brighter the lights, the more makeup you will need. |
You Don't Have a Best Side - What you do have are best features. A little trick that I use myself is to tilt my chin slightly upward and you'll never need to worry about the camera giving you a double chin. Just remember your best side is your inside. |

Be Aware of Your Surroundings - and Your Date. He may only be a prop for the evening, but remember to pose together and look in the same direction to create a timeless shot. |
